About Us | The Personal Story Behind The Source SkincareAbout Us: the first thing to know about The Source is that, although there is technically one owner, the reality is that this store is the result of the cumulative effort and support of many people: family, friends, and community...which is really the "us." Credit must be given where it is due!
Why The Source?I started The Source because I found a gaping hole in the quality of skincare information out there for people like myself: people who want to know what they are spending their money on and, just as importantly, why.The fact of the matter is, the beauty and skin care industries are largely allowed to place advertising which is misleading or downright false to the consumer. Yet, every day we are bombarded with millions and millions of dollars of ads telling us that the products being sold will make us more beautiful, younger, less wrinkled...you know the drill. How to separate truth from fiction? It is difficult, if not impossible. Walk into any major department store or beauty outlet and try to get someone there to explain the science, the reasons, why certain ingredients work or don't work, why certain packaging is important, what the latest research is. Good luck! I tried, but with no luck in getting answers I set out to get them myself. Now, I'm no slouch in the research department. In fact, I am an attorney, trained to do research, to ask hard questions, to listen carefully to answers, and to separate the truth from the fluff. In the end, though, it was having discussions with other women --and men-- that made me realize that we all feel the same way: overwhelmed by the number of products and claims out there.
The Result: The Source SkincareSo, there is born The Source. I personally select every product we carry. My decisions are based on a number of factors, including: quality, effectiveness, cost and social conscience. Many of the lines we carry are women-owned, some give back to the environment and to those in need, some are certified organic and some are all-natural, but all of them are great products in and of themselves.
So wait, what about this law thing?Still wondering about the law thing? Yes, I am a lawyer, but anyone who really knows me will tell you: I love science (I used to want to be a biochemist, but that is another story) and I literally grew up in a beauty shop. Now I finally get to combine the things I know and love and have my own business! It doesn't get much better than that.
