Dry Skin Care | Ask Nicole

Ask Nicole: "What's the best dry skin care routine? Now that the weather is changing, my skin is flaky, dull, and lifeless (plus those little pesky wrinkles are showing more than ever!) What should I do to get glowing skin?"

Dull, cracked skin is no fun. Dry skin care from the changing weather requires modifying your skincare routine-but its possible to have glowing skin in winter.

Dull and Dry Skin Recommendations

FACE CLEANSING: Daily gentle: D’vine Vinotherapy Fume Blanc Cleanser (All-natural, paraben-free) or our BioActive, Organic Green Tea and Olive Oil Cream Cleanser

BODY CLEANSING: For men, women, children, teens: Organic Shea Terra Black Soap, For men: Woody’s Meat & Potatoes Bar or Guy Gear Tri-Wash; or try luxe tropical: Malie Organics Body Wash Click Here to View Body Wash Options

FACE EXFOLIATION: Remove old, dead skin and help products penetrate with powerful, yet gentle organic Bioactive Gentle Skin Renewal Alpha-Beta Hydroxy Acid Exfoliator or D’vine Zinfandel Scrub

BODY EXFOLIATION: Pull off that old skin before moisturizing. Try Cuccio Mango Exfoliator (with AHA’s)(it says HAND peel but is ideal for entire body exfoliation!)

FACE MOISTURIZING: Fight wrinkles and hydrate with our Atache Wrinkle Attack Vital Age Retinol or the organic, BioActive Red Tea and Pomegranate Facial Moisturizer With Hyaluronic Acid and DMAE, for very dry skin, use D’vine Pinot Blanc. Step up moisturizing by first using a Facial Serum

BODY MOISTURIZING: Go organic and super-hydrate with dry skin fighters containing shea, silk proteins, kokum butter and more

SKIN-NOURISHING MAKEUP? You bet!: Keep skin hydrated and fresh with anti inflammatory, hydrating Anti Aging Mineral Liquid Foundation.

The thing is, as the weather changes, so should our skin care routines.

Colder weather generally means less moisture in the air, which means that any moisture on our skin’s surface quickly evaporates. This leaves the skin with a dry, tight feeling and ultimately, a dull, flaky appearance.

Start With a Non-Drying Cleanser

Whether for the body or the face, replenishing dry skin starts with using cleansers that aren’t harsh.

Too often, I hear clients tell me they use products that have tendencies to completely strip the skin of any kind of moisture. Avoid cleansers containing drying alcohol, particularly. Instead, use cleansers that contain skin-nourishing ingredients such as shea, enzymes, antioxidants, organic oils, and olive oil.

Exfoliation is Key

Get Glowing Skin Don’t neglect exfoliation during the winter months!

Dry skin accumulates on skin surface, making it difficult for products to penetrate properly. Add alpha-hydroxy acid or enzyme based exfoliants into both your facial and body care routines...your skin will thank you by looking softer, healthier, and glowing.

Deep Moisture Completes The Process

Moisturizers that heal are an important part of dry skin care.

Look for shea butter, cucumber, olive and jojoba seed oil as natural ingredients to nourish and replenish both body and face! Check out our recommendations to the left.

Take care of your skin with great skin care and you will see a difference: glowing skin. Period!
